Whether we grieve for personal loss, cultural despair or transpersonal suffering, the act of coming together to share our grief is an ancient way of ritualizing this inevitable human experience. Grief tended in ritual space, with support of a facilitator, community and the spirits allows our bodies to safely go deep into this dark emotion where deeper understanding, messages and compassion emerge. As we move together, the collective fuel generated by the sweat and tears of community can support healing and transmutation of these painful, challenging emotions. Grief ceremonies emphasize embodied expression of the full range of the grief experience including anger.
